Humanitarian Achievements

Following are some of the Foundation's achievements.

On a continuous basis, the Foundation provides for many of the needs of the orphans, including diapers, formula, clothing, shoes, toys, vitamins, fresh fruit and vegetables when available, as well as medicines and medical supplies. Small World also takes responsibility for general maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the orphanages; such as new flooring, doors, plastering and painting. The play structures are built to help children with fine and gross motor skills, logic and reasoning, and to just have fun.  This is provided as needed to each orphanage and is part of the on-going mission to improve the lives of ALL of the children residing in the orphanages with which SWAF works.

DONATIONS

Throughout the years, Small World has received generous donations of formula, diapers, clothing, vitamins, medicines, shoes, and toys. These items have been packed into   large boxes and each family leaving from the St. Louis metropolitan area took one of these boxes with them to the orphanages where their child was located.

Due to recent changes in Customs protocols, families can no longer take large boxes of donations to the foreign country without being severely taxed or even having the items confiscated.  Small World now prefers to receive donations of items that can be easily carried in families suitcases, such as vitamins, baby acetaminophen and ibuprofen, small clothing items (socks, underwear, hats, mittens, etc.), pacifiers, toothbrushes, washcloths, powders, travel shampoos, etc. that are then packaged into manageable quantities and sent to all families prior to travel. Small World greatly appreciates everyone's generosity throughout the years and looks forward to continuing our tradition of providing for those who are left behind.
