International Adoption
- Adopting parents should be at least 27 years old. Younger applicants will be considered on a case by case basis.
- Additional age restrictions vary from country to country.
- The combined ages of the adopting parents should not be more than 105 years for a Ukraine adoption.
- Most of the Russian cities allow single women to adopt. However, foreign judges may be reluctant to allow single mothers to adopt children under the age of 24 months. Ukraine does not allow adoptions by single parents.
- Married clients should be married a minimum of two years or have co-habitated prior to marriage a minimum of two years. Shorter lenghts of time will be considered on a case by case basis.
- Clients may have biological children.
- Clients may have up to three children already in the home. More than three children in the home will be considered on a case by case basis.

Clients need not have a diagnosed fertility problem.

There are no religious affiliation requirements.
- It is not required, although it is better for the child, that one of the adopting parents remain at home with the child after the adoption.
- Adoptions are finalized in the foreign country.
- SWAF can assist couples living in or out of the U.S. where only one adopting parent is a U.S. citizen.
- SWAF can assist some non-American couples living in or outside of the U.S., ie: British, Argentine, or German Citizens.
- Clients may adopt two children at the same time, as long as they are biologically related siblings.
