International Adoption
Ukraine Program
Small World has been assisting families to adopt from the Ukraine since 1997. The Ukraine does not accredit international adoption agencies.

Clients adopting from the Ukraine should expect to be in the Ukraine approximately 20 - 30 days. The Ukraine requires that orphaned children be listed on the National Data Bank for twelve months. This process allows for time in which Ukraine citizens have the option to adopt the available orphans. Adopting parents should expect that 16-18 months of age is the youngest age a child will be at the time of adoption. The Ukraine requires that both adopting parents, if applicable, be present in court for the adoption. Single parent adoptions are not allowed in Ukraine. Adopting parents may not be more than 45 years older than the child being adopted.
After completing an adoption in the Ukraine, clients will travel to the American Embassy in Kiev, Ukraine where they will be issued an American Immigrant Visa for their child to enter the U.S.
